Biking summer almost here

And more cool bike images on a Friday as we get closer to being able to come into the office without the car again.

Love this one.

Updated project rendering – 34° N

Another project rendering update – I guess it is officially a theme this week. Here is the upgrade to the GCC rendering. This one has the best head of steam in the office right now it seems, and we are working through CD’s now. Construction is set to begin in 2010, and it is going to be great. Now if I can just convince my wife that we need to attend the ribbon-cutting on our new custom bike it would be perfect.

Rev it up

Here are some progress images of the design for Gila County Chopper. The second floor deck is going to allow for incredible views, and will double as extended display areas for bikes on special occasions. The new masonry wall that has been added is reusing existing masonry that is on already site. The current plan is seeking a LEED Certified level.

As the design progresses, it is really starting to take on the personality of the owners, and feel like it is a great backdrop to the bikes themselves.

Thou shalt not covet

I’ll stop posting new cool bike designs on Fridays on two conditions;

1-When they stop coming into my RSS reader.

2-When the weather here isn’t 110 degrees anymore, and I can ride my own into work and stop wanting other bikes.

This is a great design with a different spin, and craft that you would expect from a fine furniture maker. I’m not sure about the functionality (could you imagine hosing it off?), but the form is sure great. And that whole “form over function” thing and architects kind of goes without saying.

Core 77 – just love this…

Handmade and produced in a limited edition of 25, this NY manufactured bike is based on a worksman cruiser frame, and was customized by Core 77 with:
  • Stem and pedals from Brooklyn Machine Works, maker of high-end, indestructible parts
  • Brooks saddle and Dapper Dan grips, both leather, provide unparalleled feel and an authentic patina.
  • BMX Crankset complemented by front and rear drum breaks from Sturmey Archer.
  • Shock-absorbing Schwalbe Fat Frank cruiser tires that provide smooth-rolling, urban-friendly traction and durability.

This makes me really regret not riding my bike in today.
